Antique Furniture Painting Distressed
Refinishing black painted furniture...?
Today I picked up 2 high back wooden chairs that are spray painted black. I would like to refinish them with an antique distressed look. How easy will this be to do and where do I start?
If you want to leave them black but just show worn through places...
sit in the chair, and stand behind it and move it around.. to get an idea where the paint would wear off,..... sand those areas with a foam sanding block until you get the amount of wear you want...
use oil-based polyurethane thinned 50-50 with mineral spirits, wipe this onto the sanded areas with a piece of cloth or paper towel... apply 2-3 times...
most likely worn areas ..middle of the back at top, front edge of seat...
