Maple Armoire
My husband and I love the cracked, chipped paint effect on old furniture.?
He has inherited some maple furniture from the 60's ,very well kept. An armoire for instance. He thinks we ought to give it that look. I don't know the value of such furniture. Since it IS his, would this be a good idea?
The furniture should be vintage.
Even though it is not classified as an antique I would check for any tags, plates, or description/maker possibly stamped in the wood first to find out who the maker is...Some furniture was made by hand or in limited quantities for that particular design and may be worth alot, even if it isn't an antique... Do some research first..it may be from a builder that obnly was around for a short period of time then vanished..or got out of the buisness due to unknown reasons....Once you put the "crackle" finish on it..it will not be worth what it could be if left alone....A few days of research online may make you a few dollars..and then it may have been mass produced in large quantities and only be worth what common Maple furniture is worth...look for identification marks and go from there..
