Refinishing Antique Furniture
Antique Henredon Dining Room Table?
My grandmother has passed and I've been tasked with selling her dining room table. It was purchased around 1975 and the brand is Henredon. I havent measured it yet but it looks to be about 8 feet long and is in four sections (I'm not sure how many leafs that is). There are no chairs and it looks like the table surface may need light refinishing. It is a nice dark wood and has a border hanging down under the table about 4 inches low.
Where can I find out what this is worth? Should I try to sell it to an antique store or is this just a regular old' piece of furniture?
Please help!
It's worth much less then it was new in the current market..probably in the neighborhood of 300 to 600. Less if it needs refinishing.
But
You didn't mention the wood it will be stamped with a number underneath to tell you. If it is rosewood mahogany it will be worth more up to 1000. The style of the base is another factor..See if you can find the number. Or post a picture. Have a look on Ebay and see if you can find it.
While Henredon is good quality furniture, your table is not old enough to have any collector's value.
